From Your Editor -- Phil Cartwright
    Do you want more input into the doings of EARLYJAS?  EARLYJAS Trustee
(Board) meetings are open to members.  We invite  you to come and put in your
own 2 cents and let us know what you would like the club to be doing in the
future.  Help us plan the next Festival -- There’s still time. The next Trustee
meeting is Thursday October 27 at 6:00 at the Hudson American Legion.  Come
and enjoy the planning, the conversation, the good friends and the good food.
    We just got word that Al Sarginger, Jr., stricken with lung cancer, passed
away September 17.  He and his wife Bonnie have been members since 1989.
    Ted Witt reports that a fund has been established for New Orleans musicians
disrupted by Katrina.  Information about donations is available at the
Preservation Hall website: www.preservationhall.com.
    Cecil Smith is a long time supporter of traditional jazz.  He directs a non-
profit group called Trad Jazz International which is dedicated to the
preservation and promotion of Trad Jazz worldwide.  The group publishes a

    Tantalizing bit:  There’s a new Dixieland band forming!  They are Cleveland
Institute of Music students and they are all under the age of 20 something!!  
Three of them sat in with the Hot Jazz 7 at the Barking Spider.  More later….
